“He was diagnosed with three different types of cancer. He kept bits of his hospital stay each time he was released from the hospital.
“Finally, the most cancers got here once again, as most cancers do, and this time it wasn’t in his bones or his mind.
They were married in Southwark (London) in May 2001, two years after they first met through a Late Evening Currie version of her radio show.
The former Conservative cabinet minister from Whaley Bridge in Derbyshire stated that the Metropolitan Police detective caught her attention during a conversation about gang violence here in London.

“I just thought he sounded really fascinating. He didn’t sound like an officer of the police,’ she said.
“I asked him if he’d lost management of the streets in Brixton because of some shootings. However, I also requested that he go out for lunch.
‘I told my producer, “Give me my quantity and if I’m not he will take me to lunch in Covent Backyard.”
John, whose first wife had died in the previous year, accepted the invitation. Ms Currie later confessed that for her it was love at the first sight.
Ms. Currie stated that she got there early and that he showed up wearing a darkish-blue swimsuit and Flying Squad ties. I believed that he would not mind being arrested by him.
They were married in 2001, and have remained together ever since.

She was married for four years, but had an affair with John Main (later Prime Minister), which she shared in September 2002.
The former South Derbyshire MP, who was married twice, moved to the Peak District. There she met John and enjoyed their walks with their dog, as well as charity work and singing in a local choir.

Mr Jones said that he was not certain if it was possible for Mrs Main to record all of Mr Main’s information in her diaries.

“This could be a man or a woman who did something they shouldn’t have done in their youth.”
Ms Currie did not advise her husband or their daughters, Debbie (46) and Susie (43), about the affair. She was also not going to tell the nation what she was doing in her diary.
