The “Sound of Ukraine” Music + Art fest, a fundraiser to help the Brighter Ukraine Foundation send a container of humanitarian aid to Ukraine, will be held Saturday, September 10 at 7 p.m. at Unita, in El Segundo. Brighter Ukraine was started by Arina Gerasimova (AVP 0penl) who grew-up in Ukraine. ZaporizhiaUkraine. This was one of the worst-hit areas by the Russian invasion. There, her family lives. Gerasimova moved to the U.S. after receiving a track scholarship when she was 16, to SUNY Albany, (State University of New York), where she set the Indoor school record was set and it won the indoor and outdoor conference titles at the America East, Big East conferences.
*Over the past six months, Gerasimova has made 12 trips to Ukraine, to deliver food, medical supplies and protective equipment. Recently, she started an initiative that supplies amputees in Ukraine with prosthetics. She also hopes to rebuild Ukraine after war.
Music at the “Sound of Ukraine” Music + Art fest will include a Ukrainian DJ & vinyl set by Moxa Records. The evening will also feature art and photography, Ukrainian performers, a Ukrainian film in English, Ukranian food, drinks and clothing, a tattoo artist, and Ukrainian landscape videography.
Free admission. Unita is located in El Segundo at 215 Arena St.
