Offset paid a beautiful tribute to his late cousin. Migos bandmate, Takeoff.
Yesterday, the 31-year-old, whose real-life name is Kiari Kennell Cephus shared his portrait tattoo on Instagram of the late rapper.
It comes just five months after Takeoff’s tragic death, which happened in November 2022.
The rapper was shot dead in a horrifying shooting outside of Houston’s bowling alley. He was just one of the three people wounded that night.
The unnamed woman and man survived. Need It singer tragically succumbed to his injuries shortly after the shooting with NPR reporting that he’d been an ‘innocent bystander’.
Patrick Xavier Clark was later charged with murder after a thorough investigation.
In an open letter to his beloved bandmate on Instagram, Offset told fans about his sorrow following the loss of his first cousin and said that reality ‘felt like a nightmare’.
He wrote: “This still doesn’t feel like reality. I’ve searched for the words that would be appropriate, but none of them are right. Rest in Power until we meet again. I love you.”
Continuing, he said that the ‘pain was unbearable’ and that he longed to be reunited with Takeoff for ‘one last hug; one last laugh; one more smoke; and one more performance together’.
To keep the late rapper’s memory alive, Offset has gotten a stunning portrait tattoo of Takeoff in tribute to him.
The artist shared several images of his ink on Instagram. Bad and Boogie captioned the post ‘Love you 4L & after’ about his open letter.
The body art, which covers the majority of the rapper’s back, is a portrait of Takeoff. It is surrounded by a frame ornately decorated with rockets and planet motifs.
The late rapper’s braids are also seen cascading around his head. He is wearing chunky necklaces as well as a zebra-printed jacket.
It’s not the first tattoo Offset has shared with his 21.4 million fans, as the Open It Up A musician is reported to have 36 tattoos.
Some of the tributes are to his wife. I like that Cardi B and his daughter Kulture are both in the picture.
